Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Carcassonne is one of the last medieval cities inhabited all year round by its inhabitants. The City of Carcassonne is first and foremost known as a fortified medieval town.
It remains the most formidable fortified complex that can still be admired in Europe. A true stone anthology: all along its three kilometres of ramparts, through its 52 towers, its two monumental gates, its barbicanes, its castle and its Basilica, in the labyrinth of its crenellated ramparts, its stairs, baffles and poternes, can be read openly all the architecture of the Middle Ages.
A visit not to be missed.

Classified among the beautiful villages of France, Villefranche de Conflent offers a glimpse of its rich heritage, a testimony to the past. Long before man left his architectural imprint, nature was already forming, drop by drop, the beautiful cavities of the Canalettes and the prehisto-grotte, which would later be fortified. At the confluence of 3 valleys, its strategic position justified its function as the capital of the Conflent.
